Safe, Targeted Exercise for Bone Health
Osteofit Classes: Safe, Effective Exercise for Stronger Bones
Two in five Australian women over 50 will experience a vertebral fracture. Osteoporosis risk rises sharply at menopause, with women losing up to 20% of their bone mass in the first decade due to declining estrogen. Reduced activity, lower calcium absorption, and muscle loss further increase vulnerability.
Safe, Targeted Exercise for Bone Health
To maintain bone strength and reduce fall risk, experts recommend weight-bearing, resistance, balance, and postural exercises. However, improper movements—such as deep bends, excessive twisting, or poor lifting—can increase fracture risk. For women that have been active in the past, this news can be confrontational, but there a way to build back your confidence and your intensity of movement with correct techniques and adaptation of exercises to make them suitable for you.
