What’s all the fuss about the Core?
The whole subject of ‘the core’ a bit confusing and misleading. Different people have different theories of what it actually entails and which muscles we are actually talking about.
And assuming we have a strong core, what does it look like? What does that mean from a movement perspective? Does it mean that we have ripped 6-pack abs? Does it mean that we are slimmer in the waist? And what does it have to do with back pain or knee pain?
No wonder it can be so confusing! And the answers are usually so vague!
I want you to be the judge of whether my short Youtube video is also vague or whether it does help to explain it a bit better. Be honest! Click here to view it, and let me know what you think.
I’ve also included short demos of a few classic core exercises that will definitely hone in on those core muscles.
It is true that we use the core in every type of movement and exercise that we do. But if we’re not activating the right core muscles – or they are so weak that other muscles are trying to take over to do their job – then we set ourselves up for poor movement patterns, poor posture and inevitably injury and pain elsewhere in our bodies
